We have a great new brewery in our little town (Moraga, CA) - Canyon Club Brewery - which was much anticipated as we sorely needed a great social spot. So needless to say, I was excited when they asked me to shoot some branding and merchandise shots for them. I love getting involved with businesses at the beginning when they’re just trying to define their visual style. It’s fun to get to the heart of the brand, play around with concepts, and create visuals that speak to their target audience.
They needed basic catalogue-style shots for their apparel store on their website - shirts, hats, sweaters, gift cards, beer cans - but I took the opportunity to try out a few things and give them a few more creative shots in addition to the standard ones. So this shoot is a mix of standard, crisp, clean shots and some with a bit more character.
This was all shot with one strobe, a beauty dish, a white backdrop, and a white v-flat…except the outdoor lifestyle shots which were natural, naturally. Most of the work and time taken on this project was retouching wrinkles out of clothes…lesson learned, always bring a steamer.
The light was really beautiful just after sunset, so I suggested we run outside for a few lifestyle apparel shots that can be used in addition to the studio shots or elsewhere in their brand media.
Product shots on product shots….
Here are a few of my shots playing around with the light to create different moods. I do include these in final galleries as I find my clients sometimes find uses for them on social media, or we decide to run with one of the backup visuals.
And just a few shots of the boss…because why not?
